1 1/2 year hiatus from blogging
It's been a while. Sorry. In the past year and a half we moved twice and had a baby. I am proud to say that we are stable now, and I will be posting more often! Hope I didn't lose you in the last year!

See Inside Your Body
See inside your body is a fabulous book for kids of ALL ages. It is a hard back, cardboard book with over 50 flaps to lift. With this books you can follow food as it travels through your body, see how your bones and muscles function, or learn amazing things about your five senses. On the page below, we see how the heart works. The flap on the arm lifts up and you read how valves in your veins "only open one way so your blood can't flow backwards" (6).
The interactive pages and interesting illustrations will captivate any child that picks up this book. It will help the child who doesn't like science. It will capture their attention and your child will love learning!
Even adults will love this book! My husband Dustin hates science. Really hates it. But See Inside Your Body facinated him. He read every page and liked learning things such as "the little bumps on your tongue are trenches that trap spit and detect smell" (12).

Puppies
Puppies is another "touchy-feely" book. It is larger in size than the "That's not my" series, so it has a greater variety of textures on each page. The book explores the different activities puppies usually like to do. Such as, sniffing, playing, chasing, digging, and sleeping. What I like most about this book is that it teaches that most puppies like to do these activities, but there are some who don't. For example, this page says,Tuesday, November 11, 2008

That's Not My Santa
"That's not my Santa" is part of Usborne's "That's not my" series of touchy-feely books. My favorite feature about the book is the interactive tactile elements. Kids learn the adjectives "soft, sparkly, rough, fuzzy, squashy and fluffy" by actually feeling each page. Brooklyn, a 7 month old, loves to look at the colorful illustrations and feel the different textures on each page.
